What are two ways colonists from Massachusetts, Virginia, and non-British areas differed from each other? I need to consider the colonies’ origins and goals, political systems, economies, and interactions with indigenous peoples.

Massachusetts Bay Colony was settled by English families searching for religious freedom.  They were Calvinists who did not agree with the Church of England's doctrines.  They settled as family groups and practiced subsistence agriculture and maritime trades such as whaling, fishing, and shipbuilding.  In the New World, they would ultimately come to govern themselves through town meetings, though they were still under the rule of the English crown.  
The Virginia Colony was settled initially by young English adventurers looking to make money in the New World and leave.  They hoped to find the Northwest Passage, but when this did not materialize, they looked for gold.  This was not present in Virginia either.  The English colonists finally turned to a hybrid tobacco that was prolific as well as tasty, and it became a worldwide craze.  Soon huge fields of tobacco spread over the countryside.  While the members of Massachusetts Bay Colony could rely on their children to work the fields, many of the English in Virginia initially did not have this advantage.  They turned to indentured servants and ultimately slaves.  Like their northern counterparts, the Virginia colony was still ruled by England, but they had a House of Burgesses for their local affairs.  While these men were not necessarily that religious, many would come to follow Anglicanism.
The other two countries that were major power players in the New World were France and Spain.  Both countries were Catholic.  Spanish priests forced their religion on natives in the Southwest, while French missionaries made more of an attempt to print the Bible in Indian languages.  The Spanish were successful in their quest for gold, and small family groups came to settle in the Southwest.  It was hard to get French families to leave Europe, but many fur traders came to America and made a good living living among the Natives by trading with Europeans and natives alike.
