Finite Mathematics, Chapter 1, 1.1, Section 1.1, Problem 44

Graph the equation: $y = x - 1$
To graph the line, we must first determine the intercepts of the line.
$x$-intercept (set $y = 0$):

$
\begin{equation}
\begin{aligned}
0 &= x - 1\\
\\
x &= 1
\end{aligned}
\end{equation}
$

$y$-intercept (set $x = 0$):

$
\begin{equation}
\begin{aligned}
y &= 0 - 1\\
\\
y &= -1
\end{aligned}
\end{equation}
$

The line pass through $(1,0)$ and $(0,-1)$. So the graph is
