I believe that this question is asking about a sequence of events that occurs in chapter 11. The chapter begins with Timothy and Phillip complaining about not being rescued. Being extremely superstitious, Timothy suggests that the island has evil spirits about it. Additionally, Timothy strongly believes that Stew Cat isn't helping the evil spirits problem. Stew Cat is bad "jumbi." A bit later, Phillip decides to take a walk around the island. While on the walk, Phillip can't find Stew Cat anywhere. Phillip also can't find the raft. It isn't where it has been tied up. Phillip panics for a moment, but he gets himself under control rather quickly. The main reason is that he trusts Timothy despite all of the jumbi talk. At the chapter's conclusion, Phillip learns that Stew Cat and the raft are just fine. Timothy took the raft and cat off of the island while he carved a wooden cat that would help get rid of the evil spirits.
