Explain Darwin’s theory of evolution. Do you think scientific creationism should be taught in school? Why or why not? Discuss.

Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, Darwinism, states that organisms evolve to favor variations that increase the likelihood of survival of a species, eliminating unfavorable features in future generations. Darwin believed that all organisms were related, having evolved from one common ancestor. The resulting millennia of evolution created organisms so different from their origin as to be considered separate species. His theory has come into question with recent advancements in the field of microbiology. As man has come to understand the inner workings of cells better, it has become harder to imagine that all living things came from one origin point.
Scientific Creationism, a theory that states that the version of creation outlined in the Bible is provable by scientific fact, is less often believed by scientists. In fact, the basis for this argument is mostly that it cannot be unproven and that there are holes in the theory of evolution. The debate often comes down to whether a person fundamentally supports the separation of church and state. Those who do tend to argue against the inclusion of Scientific Creationism in the curriculum. Some Christians believe that by not including Scientific Creationism in science courses, students are presented only one side of the story and led away from a theory that Christians consider to be accurate.
