What is Scout's real name?

Scout's full name is Jean Louise Finch in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Scout narrates the story in retrospect, which begins when she is almost six years old. Many characters refer to Scout by her nickname, except for Aunt Alexandra and Miss Caroline throughout the novel. Harper Lee never directly elaborates on the origins of Jean Louise's nickname, but one can assume she received it based on her corresponding personalities traits. Similar to a scout, Jean Louise is a curious girl, who is continually asking questions and traveling throughout town to better understand her community. Scout is also courageous and gets herself into several precarious situations throughout the novel. Jean Louise's tomboy personality and curious demeanor earn her the nickname Scout, which adequately suits her.
