College Algebra, Chapter 3, Review Exercises, Section Review Exercises, Problem 12

The graph of $f$ is given below
"Please refer to the graph in the textbook."
a.) Find $f(-2)$ and $f(2)$
Based from the graph, $f(-2) = -1$ and $f(2) = 2$

b.) Find the domain of $f$
Based from the graph, the domain of $f$ is $[-4,5]$

c.) Find the range of $f$
Based from the graph, the range of $f$ is $[-4,4]$

d.) On what intervals is $f$ increasing? On what interval is $f$ decreasing?
Based from the graph, $f$ is increasing on the intervals $[-4,-2]$ and $[-1,4]$. On the other hand, $f$ is decreasing on the intervals $[-2,-1]$ and $[4,5]$

e.) What are the local maximum value of $f$?
Based from the graph, the maximum values of $f$ is $-1$ and $4$ occurs when $x$ is $-2$ and $4$ respectively.

f.) Is $f$ one to one?
Based from the graph, $f$ is not a one to one function because if you use horizontal line test, the line will intersect the function more than once.
