Jane Marple is an older woman who often solves crimes. She is staying nearby when Letitia is shot, and Craddock asks her to lend her services. She has solved cases with him in the past.
Charlotte Blacklock
Charlotte Blacklock is masquerading as Letitia Blacklock. She's pretending to be her sister to get her inheritance. After her sister died abroad when they went to get Charlotte's goiter removed, she decided to come home as Letitia and profit. She always keeps her neck covered to hide her goiter scars.
Letitia Blacklock
Letitia Blacklock actually died in Switzerland.
Rudi Scherz
Rudi Scherz is murdered at the beginning by Charlotte. He had recently asked her for money. It turns out that he worked at the hospital where the goiter was removed from Charlotte and knew who she really was.
Bunny
Bunny, a friend of Letitia's, is trying to help with the case. She dies after being poisoned because she kept making mistakes when referring to Charlotte and Letitia. She knew who Charlotte really was; they'd been friends for a long time.
Inspector Craddock
Inspector Craddock is in charge of the investigation into the murder.
Randall and Belle Goedler
Randall and Belle Goedler are two rich people who Letitia worked for. Randall left his fortune to Belle, who is dying. She is leaving the fortune to Letitia. If Letitia is dead, the money goes to the children of a relative of Randall.
