Which racial group makes up the largest group of Muslims in America?

Islam is a diverse religion with practitioners from just about every racial group and ethnic background. This is true in the United States as well as around the globe. No scientific study has been done to determine the exact racial makeup of Muslims in America, and the US census does not collect that information. However, the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding conducted a poll in 2017 which gives a breakdown of the racial makeup of Muslims in the country. If we consider the results of this poll, then we can get a good idea about the racial background of American Muslims. The poll found that 25% of American Muslims are black, and 24% are white. This difference is within the poll's margin of error, so it is unclear if there are more white or black Muslims in America. There is an equal amount of Asian and Arab Muslims in America—both make up 18% of the total Muslim population.
