To write a poem that mirrors the elements in Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and "The Road Not Taken," you first need to identify what those elements are.
Both of Frost's poems are written in the first person, so that's a good place to start. They also both deal with traveling through nature. In "Stopping by the Woods," the speaker pauses in his journey to admire the trees and wishes he could stray from his past to appreciate the wild further, but ultimately he must uphold his promises as a member of society and continue on his way. In "The Road Not Taken," on the other hand, the speaker purposefully chooses the wilder, less-traveled path in an assertion of his independence. So the common themes of the two poems are nature, the call of the wild, and independence.
Given all of this, when you begin to consider what the subject of your own poem will be, it might help to ask yourself: What are some journeys you've been on? What is your own relationship with nature? When was a time you had to weigh your responsibilities to the people in your life against what you yourself wanted?
Frost's language is fairly straight forward and not very flowery, so be sure to keep your poem from getting too bogged down in metaphors and similes. He does, however, employ a complicated rhyme scheme in both poems. In "Stopping by the Woods," there are four stanzas, each with four lines. Lines 1, 2, and 4 of each stanza rhyme with one another, while line 3 introduces what the rhyme will be in the following stanza. "The Road Not Taken" also has four stanzas, but here they each have five lines. Again, lines 1, 2, and 4 rhyme, but here line 3 rhymes with line 5. So in your own poem, maybe you could have four stanzas and employ a rhyme scheme similar to the one Frost uses in either of these two works.
