The name of Boss Finley's son is Tom Finley Jr., but he is referred to throughout as Tom Junior. Boss often uses Tom Junior and his friends as his muscle.
Tom Junior first appears in the play in the opening scene of act two. His father calls him to the terrace to ask him to go to the hotel Chance Wayne is staying in and get rid of him: "I want him gone by tomorrow."
From there Tom becomes a major character in the novel. He goes to the hotel and confronts Chance about Heavenly and tells him if he doesn't leave the hotel by midnight, he will castrate him. In the last scene of the play, Tom and his friends enter Chance's hotel bedroom to beat him up.
Tom Finley, more commonly known as Boss, has a son called Tom Junior. As his nickname suggests, Boss is a formidable character, he is the patriarch of the Finley clan and a man who dominates all those around him. Naturally, that includes Tom Junior. Boss Finley has major political ambitions and gets his son to help out, organizing a youth wing for his campaign. Junior has gained the reputation of a ne'er do well: he flunked college; he's been in trouble with the law several times; he's always having to be bailed out of whatever sticky situation he's in by his old man. Back in the day, he used to be quite friendly with Chance Wayne. But since Chance returned, relations between the two men have soured, largely on account of his sister Heavenly's recent tragedy.
